5 Star is for the medical care I have received but NOT the secretary staff. They can be abrasive and intrusive. Sometimes it seems like they believe they run the surgery and have absolute rights to know about personal situations. Once I was told by a doctor to submit a sample for testing and the secretary refused at first to take it even AFTER I told her the doctor literally just told them to take it, they seem to feel they know better. A good staff shakeup and removal of the few intrusive secretaries who feel they are qualified to over-ride a doctors instructions would make a massive difference. You cannot sum up the surgery by experience as a whole, the doctors are fantastic. The other staff however are not.
love the drs and nurses, the have been good to me.

most kindest patient supportive workers i've come into contact with after living the last 20 years actually knowing why I feel different and BBIIGG RREESSPPEECCTT to NICK (an absolute diamond who I will never forget) also sam and jaqcui and emma. even after I messed up big time I was still treated with kindness and support and want to say THANKYOU to you all OH! and sorry about the signs (you will know what I mean) LOL
The Outpatient Department is wonderful... A beautiful building with wonderful and supportive staff. I had an Autism diagnosis here and I can honestly say they were the most friendly and understanding people I could ever imagine. 💖💖💖

I stayed at Penn Hospital when it was Juniper Ward for women back in March 2011. The staff were friendly and helpful. It seemed a scary place at first. I soon got better and i was given a care plan and even a little celebration with a few other patients ready for my departure. I couldn't wait to go back to my family but had i not been bought in i may not be alive today. I love my therapy courses that i have through the outpatient complex care team. They are extremely helpful. The only fault i have with the service is the Crisis Team and i am not the only patient to complain. You are advised to just relax and listen to music, etc when you are telling them you don't feel sound minded and twice now my husband has found me attempting to take my own life and the crisis team just weren't interested. They expected my husband to care for me which just isn't on as he isn't qualified or paid to do the job the crisis team should be doing. Even a social worker called after i was found with a ligature but because i was alive and with her and my husband they didn't feel i needed their service (which is a disgrace). I never call the crisis team now because i feel patronized and many patients feel this way. That may be why suicide is on the rise because many don't reach out because they feel they are just an inconvienience. We have been told there are no beds on many occasions. You practically have to beg to be sectioned in order to be safe and it wasnt like that before. My Dr is amazing i can't thank him enough for his support. I just feel the crisis team let mental health services down and that's a shame.
Having moved from a previous dreadful Trust, the team at Penn Hospital have been amazing. As an inpatient, the staff offered me support and empathy. The women's ward was nicely decorated - a small thing that made being there less scary. I've had several years of outpatient support from the Complex care team and they've helped me to start to put my life back together. My CPN is literally a life saver! Yes, services aren't perfect but the staff are caring and work wonders with such limited funds.
